Relaxing getaway in Châteauneuf de Gadagne: our experience at Camping Fontisson

Châteauneuf de Gadagne between Luberon and Avignon is the ideal place to stay for a weekend! Let yourself be tempted by this getaway for two or with friends, in the countryside.

15-20 minutes from L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue or Avignon, we are close to the biggest tourist attractions of Vaucluse. But this time, we're taking you off the beaten path to make the most of nature and meet local people, those who have nice addresses that are sometimes hidden, know-how or passions to share... Direction the capital of the Provençal language, a village of winemakers: Châteauneuf-de-Gadagne.

Friday

  • Arrival at Fontisson campsite from 2 pm.
  • Put your bag down and head for the heart of the hilltop village of Châteauneuf-de-Gadagne (about 15 minutes walk from the campsite). Visit and stroll with the brand new plan/guide. Above all, do not miss the superb view from the Campbeau Plateau.
  • At aperitif time, meet Chez Janique & Stéphane *, lovers of wine & cheese, on the brand new village square. Selection of local wines.

Saturday

  • Breakfast prepared (and served) by Le Fontisson* (by reservation the day before).
  • By bike (or by car), we go in the morning to the pretty Provençal market in the neighboring town, surrounded by water: welcome to Le Thor. Improvised picnic with local products found on the stalls, go to the Estourans Park or the Garacine Footbridge: among the most beautiful places to settle down as a couple or with friends.
  • In the afternoon: return to Châteauneuf-de-Gadagne - Wine tasting stop at the Domaine des Garriguettes on the way (open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.). Organic wines! (about ten minutes walk from the campsite).
  • Musical evening at Akwaba or dinner with panoramic views of Mont-Ventoux at the Maison de Celou * (ideally located in the center of the village).

Information about cycling: circuit no. 12 - complete loop, allow 2 hours 30 minutes from the campsite, easy level. A little tip: cross the village via Avenue de Verdun, on the left after the gas station to avoid the busy road to Avignon.

Sunday

  • You have vacated your accommodation, it is time to compete on the petanque court, a Provençal break obliges!
  • Lunch at the Bistrot de la Pastiere*, gourmet break between Italy and Provence.
  • Short hike to the heights of the village of 7 km (2 hours approximately). Follow the Terrarando course, the step by step is great, essential to follow the course that is not marked.
  • Reward break on the heights of the village in the Arbousière Park (open from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.).

*Alternatives for eating at the campsite: small local grocery store, a small Carrefour Express in the heart of the village. At the campsite you have a barbecue and a few tables at your disposal. Don't forget the bag of charcoal on your shopping list.
